I teach middle school girl's PE and I like to introduce my units with a story, realistic fiction or biography. This book is a combination as the stories are based on the authors' real life experiences. I can read as little or as much of the story as I want. I can have the girls practice predicting, cause and effect, inferences, retell; all important skills on our state testing in May. Plus, the stories are written at their level of understanding and are interesting. Some are longer than I need, but I use them as teasers and then encourage an interested listener to borrow the book from me during study hall.
