Loved the book. Bittner occasionally spends more time on painting the picture than developing the plot. Loved the characters and the plot moved along nicely. Her villains tend to be real nasty but her heroes tend to be fairly well developed and rounded. One of my favorites of hers.

I was thrilled to be so involved in reading this story about Tess and John seeing the compassion that he held for her.

The Indians, Bad Guys and all the troubles were spellbinding.

I went and bought more of Rosanne's books this week.

Many thanks to for introducing me to Rosanne Bittner, what a writer! This lady is without a doubt the best author anyone could ever hope to find. If you are a historical romance (Western) fan you will not EVER be disappointed in any book that she writes. Being an avid reader for years, I have never read books that have touched me in the way that Ms Brittner's have, I feel as if I know all of these people that she has brought to life on the pages of her books. I find myself constantly searching for sequels to everything she writes. Texas Embrace is an amazing story, introducing us to John Hawkins, half breed, Texas ranger, toughest, meanest man who ever tracked the bad guys. John hears that a young woman has been taken hostage by the commancheros, after they have killed her father and her husband. Being the man that he is he goes to rescue her. This man has no fear. I could not put this book down. I don't want to give anything away so I will not go into anymore detail but you will be glad you bought the book. There is a sequel Texas Passions that is a real tear jerker. Don't miss either one of these books, you will not regret it.
This is the story of Tess Carey who loses everything except her life at the hands of the Comancheros. They savagely attack a small farm and kill Tess's father and husband. They destroy the farm and take Tess.

Texas Ranger John Hawkins is a half-breed and the meanest man tracking thieves and murderers. He doesn't seem to understand the idea of fear and truly embodies the Texas Ranger motto of, 'one riot, one ranger.'

Tess' grief does not end with the kidnapping and she desperately tries to return to normalcy in El Paso. However, the citizens are not believing she was untouched. Tess must again turn to John Hawkins for help.
